In the spirit of community and philanthropy, Rocky Point Rotary held its 25th annual Golf Outing on June 19, 2023. This year’s event was also the first annual District 7255 Rotary Cup Golf Championship. The event was nothing short of spectacular and we're excited to share the highlights with you.
A day filled with sunshine and smiles, the District 7255 Rotary Cup Golf Championship proved to be the perfect blend of friendly competition and fundraising. Participants arrived, clubs in hand, ready to test their skills on the meticulously maintained greens of the beautiful St. George’s Golf and Country Club, but also to contribute to causes that touch so many lives.
From the first swing in the morning to the last putt in the late afternoon, the enthusiasm was palpable. Golfers from representing Rotary clubs from Amityville to Verrazano navigated the course with determination and grit, each hole bringing everyone closer to the goal of raising essential funds for the Rotary Foundation as well as local causes.
Off the fairways, spectators cheered, volunteers hustled, and families bonded. Every single person present added to the positive energy, making it a truly memorable day for all.
But the fun did not stop there. As the sun set and the golf clubs were put away, we moved into the elegant setting of our post-golf End Polio Now dinner. The aroma of delectable food wafted through the air, as laughter and chatter filled the room. It was a well-deserved moment of relaxation after a day out on the course.
Guests enjoyed a raw bar, cocktails, and a gourmet dinner of steak and lobster and engaged in lively conversations. Stories from the day's activities were shared over dessert, and laughter was a common sound. The camaraderie in the room was not only a testament to the success of the golf outing, but also the unity of our community.
During the End Polio Now dinner, emcee Chris Clausen had the chance to thank our generous sponsors, without whom this event would not have been possible. The collective effort of our sponsors, participants, volunteers, and staff played a huge role in making the first District 7255 Rotary Cup a grand success.
In total, we raised significant funds and we are grateful to all those who contributed. This event is a powerful reminder that when we come together, we can make a real difference in the world.
