Downtown Rocky Point Christmas Tree Lighting
On Saturday evening, December 5, Rocky Point Rotarians were on hand to serve hot chocolate to community members that were in attendance for the annual Rocky Point tree lighting.

Rocky Point Rotarians "Ring the Bell" for the Salvation Army

On a warm Saturday, December 12, 2015, members of Rocky Point Rotary and family volunteered to man the Salvation Army collection kettles at Stop and Shop in Miller Place, This is an annual initiative undertaken by the Club. The Salvation Army kettle drive was started in 1891 when Salvation Army Captain Joseph McFee was distraught because so many poor individuals in San Francisco were going hungry. During the holiday season, he resolved to provide a free Christmas dinner for the destitute and poverty-stricken.

 

 

 

Rocky Point Rotary Club Serves Thanksgiving Lunch to the Residents of the Ridge Rest Home
On Tuesday, November 24, 2015, members of the Rocky Point Rotary Club served a delicious Thanksgiving lunch to the residents of the Ridge Rest Home. Anne Marie Davis arranged this service project and by all accounts (empty plates and all), it was very well received and a huge success.  
 
Spiro and Sea Basin provided the delicious turkey and all the trimmings. Thanks to Anne Marie & Sea Basin for putting the dinner together!

Interact Visits Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck for Annual Spring Cleanup

On Sunday, May 31, the Interact Service Club of Rocky Point High School and their advisor Margaret Messinetti participated in a spring cleanup at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck. Everyone took part in raking leaves, weeding flower beds, putting down mulch, painting, and general cleanup duties. Everyone worked hard, but they also managed to have fun.

Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck is a resident summer camp designed for young people ages 6-21 with special needs. Its mission is to help children and adults achieve equality, dignity, and maximum independence through a safe and quality program of camping, recreation, and education in a summer-time environment. Throughout the program, campers participate in typical summer camp activities, such as arts and crafts, talent shows, cook-outs, swimming and boating.Image

Easter Lunch Served at the Ridge Rest Home by the Rocky Point Rotary Club

On Tuesday, March 31, 2015, members of the Rocky Point Rotary Club met in full red shirt regalia to serve a delicious Easter lunch to the residents of the Ridge Rest Home. Anne Marie Roberts arranged this service project and by all accounts (empty plates and all), it was very well received and a huge success. Spiro and Sea Basin provided the delicious ham and all the trimmings. Thanks to Anne Marie & Sea Basin for putting the meal together!

Rotary Guest Speaker -- Guide Dog Foundation in Smithtown

On Tuesday, April 7, the Rotary Club of Rocky Point was fortunate to have special visitors From the Guide Dog Foundation in Smithtown.  There is a branch of the foundation that services wounded Veterans.  Two VetDogs were at the meeting, “Toshi,” whose trainer is Nancy, and “Savannah,” who is called Savy or Sassy, whose trainer is Michelle. Vetdogs is an assistance dog program that uses guide dogs, service dogs, and innovative training techniques to enhance the lives of disabled Veterans of all eras.  Visit http://VetDogs.org for more information.
